LESSON 1: DEFINING PHYSICAL HEALING

LESSON 1: DEFINING PHYSICAL HEALING

Scripture

Mark 2: 9-11

Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’?  But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralytic, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”

Teaching Points

Many physical illnesses have emotional factors involved, since our emotional and physical world are interconnected.

    > A lot of times we have to address the underlying issues in order to see breakthrough in the physical healing.

Healings and miracles are not the same

    > Healing: recovery occurs as an acceleration of the natural healing process

    > Miracle Healing: creation of things that don’t exist (missing body parts; deformities)

    > Miracles of nature: turning water into wine, walking on water or walking through walls

Healing the body means changing and restoring the physical condition so that the body functions properly.

We are trained in life to believe in what we see - so praying for physical healing can cause fear because we will be able to tell if it worked or not.

APPLICATION

This is a great opportunity to commune with the Holy Spirit and meditate on the reality that SALVATION and HEALING were both accomplished on the cross. Is there a difference in your faith when you pray a salvation prayer with someone as opposed to praying for someone's healing? If so, ask the Lord for deeper revelation.
